Established in 1955 as a Collektion of plastic art works, throughout the jears, the galleri affirmed itself as an institute which continued the long-year cultural traditions of the toun of Shumen.There are over 1600 works here in the field of painting , sculpture ,graphics and applied art during the period of late XIX century till now.Among these are names of high class as well as names of unigue authors.

The Art Galleri halls of a total area of 333 sg. m. are open for art exhibitions of various characters and other cultural manifestations.

The Art Gallery is named after the well known Bulgarian painter Elena Karamihailova (1875-1961).
